The Alphonse Guajardo Architectural Scholarship Fund

Alphonse G. Guajardo, founder and principal of Guajardo REC Architects, as well as a past president of HACIA passed away after a long illness, on May 10, 2005. In his memory, the Alphonse Guajardo Architectural Scholarship Fund has been established. With the generous support of friends and family, this fund will award both an academic and financial package, to a deserving Hispanic architectural student entering the Master’s of Architecture program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Guajardo REC architects will also provide the scholar with internship opportunities. We will be awarding the fund’s first scholarship this summer—2006.

Scholarships are available from September to May. Check the program's website for more information.

It had always been Alphonse’s dream to see that every student should be encouraged and supported in the attainment of their goals. We believe that this important fund will keep that dream vibrant and serve as a meaningful tribute to Alphonse’s life and legacy.

Your help will be crucial to the growth of this fund. We hope that you will consider contributing generously.
